How I Plan my Week as a Christian Mom

Because grace is greater than hustle.

Let me start by saying: I don't wake up at 4 a.m., drink lemon water, and journal for 30 minutes while the house is silent. (I do get up at 5 a.m. and drink a pre-workout for a sweat session that I may or may not finish, depending on how long the baby sleeps). I have littles so let's face it, I'm lucky if I get five minutes to myself because someone's yelling for a banana.

But even in the choas, I've learned something powerful: I NEED time with God before I give my time to anyone else.

Why My Mornings Start with God (Not Instagram)

When I start my day with intention - even just 5 quiet minutes with Jesus - everything shifts. I'm more patient. More grounded. More available to my family. Less likely to cry when my toddler pours cereal on the floor.

Mattew 6:33 says,
     "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

This isn't about performance. It's about presence. God doesn't need a long, quiet time - but He invites me into peace every morning. And I say yes, even when it's messy.

My 15-Minute Faith-Filled Morning Routine

Here's what it usually looks like:

Step 1: Wake up before my kids (or sometimes with them)

I aim for 15 minutes of quiet time after my workout - but if someone's on my lap, that counts too.

Step 2: Read one short passage or verse

I love Proverbs, Psalms, or the YouVersion "Verse of the Day".

Step 3: Write 3 things I'm grateful for 

It can be as simple as:
  • Coffee
  • A snuggle from my kids
  • A full night of sleep.... or 5 uninturrupted hours

Step 4: Pray over my day

Something like:
     "Lord, be the loudest voice in my day. Give me wisdom and grace for motherhood, marriage, and whatever else this day may bring."

Step 5: Play one worship song

Sometimes I sing along. Sometimes I just let it wash over me while I get ready for the day.

But What if the Morning Doesn't go as Planned?

Oh friend - most days, it doesn't. Someone wakes up early. The baby cries. My "quiet" moment gets inturrupted 12 seconds in.

Here's what I've learned:
     The goal isn't perfection. It's connection.

If I miss my morning moment, I pause mid-morning. Or at nap time. Or I pray while folding laundry that evening after the kids have gone to bed. God meets us where we are, in the rhythm of real life - we don't have to perform for Him to show up.

Start small. Pick one verse. Whisper a prayer. Invite Jesus into the mess.

You're not behind. You're not failing. You're a faithful mom showing up the best way you can - and that's enough.
